The High Level Glazing team supplied this internal glass floor installed into the owner’s pre made aperture in London. The floor was supplied in three glass panes; all supplied with structural support to all four edges as to comply with regulations and was designed to sit flush with the surrounding floor finishes thus preventing a trip hazard.
The glass was supplied in a single glazed triple laminate unit which consists of three layers of 10mm glass with 2 no intermediate PVB interlayers. As the glass is supplied in a toughened speciation this glass retain no structural strength once broken and as such a sacrificial glass layer is provided so that should in the unlikely circumstance that one of the panes ever become broken then a full walk on specification unit is still provided.
These glass floors are unable to provide a resistance to fire spread and as such careful consideration to their location must be considered.
